N. Heckman's Teaching 2002-3

Statistics 526 Term 2 2002-3
Smoothing Methods: Projects

For the last part of the course, you will get the chance to teach yourself and teach others. You will choose a topic and/or data set that interests you. I have some suggestions, but am also happy to help you choose something else.

What you must do:

- choose your topic
- learn the appropriate background material, carry out simulation and/or data analysis
- present your material in class, so we can all learn something
- give the class a simple homework problem
- write a report (around 10-15 pages)

Beginning Mar 19 (see running outline). The presentation format is more teaching/lecturing than seminar style, so that we will all learn something.
