General Information
- Midterm and final exams will cover materials presented in the lectures and labs.
Topics covered in the lectures/labs are available on the class webpage. Materials
in the textbook that are not covered in lectures/labs may be ignored when you prepare
the exams, but these materials may help you to better understand those presented in
lectures. Note that some materials/examples presented in the labs/lectures
may not be posted online but they may appear in the exams, so it is
important to attend the labs/lectures.
- Please try to understand, rather than memorize, the course materials.
There will be no tedious computation in the exams (but simple computation will be
needed).
- All exams are closed books/notes, but
one letter-size ``cheat sheet'' (8.5' by 11', two sided) will be allowed
for the midterm exams, and two letter-size ``cheat sheets'' (8.5' by 11', two sided)
will be allowed for the final exam.
- A simple scientific calculator will be helpful and allowed, but no graphical or
programmable calculators are allowed.
Also NO cell phone, PDA, electronic organizer, blackberry, laptop computer allowed.
- Midterms are 50 minutes long. The final exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- Necessary tables (e.g., Table A) will be provided.
- No makeup exams. If you miss a midterm with good reasons (approved by the
instructor), the weight of that midterm will be transferred to the final exam.
- Bring your student ID.
- You need to pass the final exam in order to pass this course.
